Phil Michelson, nicknamed “Lefty”, has won 45 events on the PGA tour. He is a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame and the oldest winner of the most recent PGA Championship at the age of 50 in 2021.
Recently, my son and I had the opportunity to watch Phil play in a PGA tournament. It was quite a treat following him for all 18 holes. He is a great competitor, master of the short game, & creative shot maker.
I focused on how he approached each shot. His routine was meticulous. Being a student of the game myself and golf instructor, I was interested in all aspects of his game. He spent extra time on his pre-swing routine, visualizing where he wanted the ball to go. I believe this is what the top players do and is one of the keys to their great play.
I haven’t been to a PGA event in years. The last time I went to one it was with my dad when we attended the PGA when it was in Chicago several years ago. I was excited to be able to go to a tournament this year with my son. All in all, it was a wonderful experience!
